The Liz Gullion Scholarship Fund

This fund was created in memory of Liz Gullion, who was a longtime school psychologist in Eugene and one of the first school psychologists in Oregon. Liz was very active in both OPSA and NASP. She never missed a NASP Convention, even during her last few years when she was in poor health. When Liz was in a meeting, she always had something to contribute. She always had new and innovative ideas on how to help children. Upon her death, a fund was established in her honor by her many friends. The fund is intended to provide financial assistance for students who are training to become school psychologists, so that they may attend OSPA and NASP conventions. The OSPA treasurer manages this fund. Stipends for attending OSPA or NASP conventions are available from interest, dividends and appreciation of the Liz Gullion Fund. The amount of money available varies from year to year. Funds are to be used toward OSPA conferences and/or NASP convention costs, e.g., registration, travel or lodging. The award will only partially cover such expenses.
Criteria for selection to receive funds are:
- At least half-time enrollment in an Oregon School Psychology program.
- Students in either a Masters or Ph.D. level degree program or eligible.
- Need for funds will be considered along with other selection criteria.
- Applicants from Lewis & Clark and the University of Oregon may share equally in the funds.
Applicants must be OSPA members in good standing at the time of application. Nominations will be accepted directly from individual students. The selection committee will include the OSPA spokesperson and two OSPA board members. The selection process may include contact with the director of the student's school psychology program. Recipients of the award will be notified by September 30, of the application year. Applications must be postmarked by September 16.
