The Eugene School District 4J (Eugene, Oregon) is currently hiring for two (2) school psychologist positions. The school psychologistÕs role is to provide assessment and consultation services which will result in specific recommendations for instructional and behavioral strategies to enable students from diverse backgrounds and learning styles to derive the fullest possible educational experience. The school psychologist will conduct evaluations and determine eligibility for special education and related services. The school psychologist will be a member of a diverse team to develop and monitor specially designed instruction. Qualifications include following:

  • Valid Oregon School Psychologist License
  • Understand IDEIA and Oregon rules that govern the operation on Special Education
  • Knowledge of curriculum-based measurement, researched-based practices in effective instruction, and ability to plan comprehensive academic interventions.
  • Experience conducting behavioral assessments, functional analysis, and developing and implementing behavioral or social skills interventions.
  • Evidence of multi-cultural experience and cultural competency.

Title: School Psychologist

Major Responsibilities:

1. Administers appropriate tests and writes psycho-educational evaluation reports.
2. Participates in conferences with other staff members and parents to share evaluation
results.
3. Participates in IEP conferences as required.
4. Makes an inservice presentation as deemed necessary.
5. Consults with educators and parents.
6. Provides short-term crisis intervention/counseling.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Master’s degree in Special Education, School Psychology or related field.
2. Valid Oregon School Psychologist license issues by Teacher Standards and Practices
Commission or a psychologist license issued by the Oregon Board of Psychologist Examiners.
3. Classroom teaching and/or classroom behavior management experience preferred.
4. Ability to coordinate into written report information gathered.
5. Consultant must hold a valid Oregon Driver’s license, appropriate automobile insurance,
and provide own transportation.

Terms of Employment: 209 days Location: Coos County

At this time, Portland Public Schools is looking for two school psychologists for this school year.

The first opening is a temporary 1.0 position working with the Collaborative Services Team and second position is a 0.5 FTE. Both assignments are itinerants. The School Psychologist, as a member of the Special Education Multidisciplinary Education Team, works with school personnel, parents and students in facilitating educational services for students. The School Psychologist assists in the assessment, eligibility and placement process for students referred for special education. In addition, the School Psychologist provides consultative services to both general education and special education personnel. The School Psychologist may also provide individual/group counseling services to students when appropriate.

The successful applicant must hold or be eligible to hold a school psychologist endorsement through Teacher Standards and Practice Commission (TSPC).
